HOMEMADE FRAGRANCE-FREE ALTERNATIVES
(Found on the Web as suggestions - let us know how they
work!)
INSECT
REPELLENT & CONTROL
Shaklee Basic H - Use
either full strength or diluted 1/3 BH to 2/3 water.
Apply
Basic-H full strength on skin - mosquitoes, chiggers, flies, fleas etc. will
not bite where Basic-H is applied! Also if you forgot to use Basic-H
beforehand, use it afterwards if you get a bite to stop the itching. (This is an off-label use, though
recommended by many people)

Be
Fragrance-Free: It's helpful to
avoid having any kinds of "attractants" on your body before you leave
the house and walk through an infested area. These include anything with a
scent that masks your own: perfumed soaps, hair gel, and deodorant.
Vitamin
B-1 (Thiamine Hydrochloride) is reputed to give off an odor
through the skin that repels no only mosquitos but also gnats, no seeums and
black flies. A 100 mg. tablet, taken
once daily, is reportedly sufficient to do the trick.
Eliminate
Ants -- http://geocities.com/sahmsforchrist/bakingsoda.htmUsing
the top to a butter dish (or something similar), sprinkle confectioner's sugar
on the bottom and add a light coating of baking soda on top. Place in a discreet place on the floor (in a
corner, along a baseboard) near the source you suspect they are getting in t. Within a couple of days you will notice that
the ants are swarming the dish and then they will be gone in a day or two.
Skin Cream: Use in place of shaving cream.
Aloe Vera Gel -
Replace shaving cream with 100% aloe vera gel.
Purchase commercial aloe vera gel, or use aloe vera gel from your houseplants. Cut open leaf and rub on skin.
DEODORANT
Simple Baking Soda
Deodorant: Ingredients: 1/8 teaspoon of baking soda, 1/4
teaspoon of water.
Directions:
Dissolve the baking soda into the water - the liquid should feel
slippery, since sodium bicarbonate is a base - and apply directly to skin.
Adjust quantities as necessary - you may need less, you may need more. Since there's different "types" of
water, you may need to adjust the recipe. If your water easily rinses away the
"slimy" feel of sodium bicarbonate, you'll need to use more. If your
water does not easily rinse it away, you'll need less. Too much sodium bicarbonate will cause some
skin irritation. It also needs to be dissolved sufficiently, because dry
powdery baking soda can chafe skin just like sand. By the way, the water solution will leave white stains on clothes
or countertops wherever it drips and dries out, but it washes away easily.
After all, another use of baking soda is as a cleanser!
Simple
Baking Soda Deodorant: Sprinkle
a light covering of baking soda onto a powder puff or damp washcloth. Pat on the body where needed. Don't rinse. For a more convenient way of applying baking soda, add 3
teaspoons baking soda to 1 cup water in a spray bottle. Use less baking soda if
the sprayer gets clogged.
Baking
Soda Deodorant: Mix a cup of
baking soda and 2 T. of cornstarch (to keep baking soda from clumping) and put
it in a plastic container with a short-handled blush brush. Then after your
shower you just brush on your deodorant. Since you're still a little moist, it
doesn't have a problem sticking.

TIP
DIRECTOR LIBERTY GOODWIN SHAMPOO SOLUTIONS:
I began using Dr. Bronner’s Unscented Baby Mild Castile Soap
after I discovered its ingredients were about the same as several recipes I
found for making your own shampoo at home.
I have seen comments on the internet that for some folks it might leave
hair dry, although I haven’t had a problem myself. There are also suggestions to use an apple cider vinegar rinse
after shampooing. QUESTIONS
